About Us
We are a non-profit making organisation and, for our finances, are reliant upon subscriptions paid by our members. This membership, covered by the Constitution, will not exceed thirty six people and is presently numbering thirty or so singers of all ages. We are completely independent and unaffiliated directly to any other organisation. Our concert performances are given in a variety of venues including, Hereford Cathedral, College Hall, St Francis Xavier and churches in the surrounding, rural area. From time-to-time we are privileged to sing services in Cathedrals and churches in the West Midlands region.
The Choir is always on the lookout for choral singers of good quality in voice and ability. This, combined with an acceptable standard in music reading will be a major part of the criteria for any audition. Any vacancies will, of course depend upon the number of singers within the Choir and its sections at a given time. We are, of course, always open to an approach by prospective choral scholars and will do everything possible to encourage and accommodate them both financially and with the provision of music.
Because we are a non-profit making organisation, we generally have no other form of income with which to finance the provision of music, instrumentalists, advertising, publicity and the necessary, basic infrastructure needed to support the Choir’s activities. Most money raised goes to the charitable causes we support. Therefore, it is always a much appreciated bonus to receive sponsorship in whatever way it may be provided. Any support which may be given by local business or private donors is most acceptable and will greatly assist in the furtherance of our work.
2008 marked the 25th anniversary since the founding of the Choir and was, therefore, a very special year. It gave us the opportunity to take stock of the past years and look ahead to new challenges and ideas. Several objectives were set and, among them, an investment in an improved music library; portable piano and lighting for venues where such resources are unavailable or inadequate; the necessary finance to give us the ability to encourage and support younger singers of school and college age; help to finance the costs of soloists, accompanying pianists, organists and instrumentalists, especially young performers. These aims and objectives are ongoing projects and will be carried forward in the coming years.
